“Young people today experience a set of challenges unlike any generation before them. From navigating the mental health impacts of the global pandemic to the pressures that come with being constantly online, this generation requires us to rethink how we approach youth mental health.
Every day, I am reminded that the strengths of youth outweigh the challenges they are facing: young people are resilient in the face of adversity, capable supporters of their friends and classmates, and necessary partners in building a more equitable mental health landscape. Our work is to champion them and build a future where young people’s needs are prioritized and their voices are heard. We are honoured to be bringing this group together in Vancouver, which is located on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, and is today home to many diverse First-Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. Our hope is that this space can serve as a catalyst for global action, bringing a diverse group of young people and leaders in the mental health space together to collaborate. Thank you for your leadership and support in bringing this important space to life.”

“It’s exhilarating to see youth mental health getting the spotlight it deserves in Canada. Youth today are very clearly asking us to do more to empower them and to develop solutions that work for all youth. With the right coalition of organizations and youth working together, I’m confident we can build that future.”
